Maths | Written Algorithm

Written algorithm is a strategy that uses place value to find an answer. The written algorithm can be used to solve addition, subtraction, division, and multipaction problems.

In place value there are different type of boxes. For example: The o stands for ones, The t stands for tens, The h is for hundreds, and the th stands for thousands.

  1. Hello Fotu,

Really interesting blog post you have done. I found your DLO really interesting. It helped me understand how to use written algorithm. Can you describe what you found hard about this task?

    1. Hi Te Raumati,

Thanks for the positive feedback. I found explaining written algorithm hard because I was still understanding how to use written algorithm. Which operation would you use for a different strategy and why?

    2. Greetings Fotu,

Thank you for your response. One of the strategies I would use is skip counting. I would use this strategy for a multiplication problem. Would you use this strategy and when would you use it?

    3. Hi Te Raumati

Interesting question you have asked. I would use this strategy to help me answer some of the time tables or division questions. Would you use this strategy in every time table and why?
