Maths

Today for maths we looked at different strategies of solving equations.

First my group looked at different equations based on addtion and subtraction. Our first strategie was  counting backwards  84 to 77 because our equation was (84-7=???). The counting backwards didn't turn out right so we went to another equation. Our next equation we tried was lumber line. We got the answer right with the number line equation.

The next set of questions were based on multiplication and division. Our equation was (180÷12=??). Our first strategy was skip counting. My group were skip counting in 12's
But it didn't work. Our next strategy was written algorithm. It worked, we solved it like.
180    ÷  12

         15

Swimming - T3W2

Today for swimming I had my first swimming session. My teacher who taught me was Kelly.

Before swimming we learnt how to enter the pool safely without splashing.

First I learnt a skill called streamline. To do a streamline your arms have to be stright up together in the air.

Next skill we learnt was freestyle. Freestyle is when you swim with no things to do just swimming.

Lastly I learnt float borad. Float borad is knowing how to float on your back and stomatch.

Swimming was fun learning new skills and learning how to float.

Procedural text

This week for writing we learnt about procedural text. The structure of a recount is TEMPS. The structure of TEMPS is (Title, End result, Material, Pictures and Steps).

First I wrote a list of words for my steps. When my steps were finshed I made a sentence using my list of words.

Next I used a verb in the begening of each of my sentences.

Then I finish off writing all my steps. In a step you only use third person or second person.

Lastly I finshed off with putting picures to match my sentences.

I enjoyed this task because I learnt how to make an instruction list.

LI- To write a set of instructions.

The legend of Rahi

This week for reading we were visualising a story called ( The legend of Rahi).

We had to visualise what was happening in the story about rahi. We drawed something simula and different. In each box we had to imagine what the pictures talk about.

This strategy of visualising is good because if you are struggling you can just visualise the story.

LI- To retell the text using visualising strategy to sequence events.
