Space Art

I drew a picture of a moon and I also drew different sizes of circle in the moon. Then I shaded the little circle using my fingers. When my moon was done I used dye to colour the coffee fitters, I used hot and cold colours. Then I used big, small and medium circles to cut out circles from the coffee fitters. When all of that was done my teacher cut out a black cupboard paper and then we splashed white paint all over the black cupboard paper to make stars. Then we glued all of the circles and the moon on the black cardboard paper.

Zoo Recount

Auckland Zoo Recount 

One cold, cloudy day room 5 went to the Zoo.
I was excited to go to the zoo.
We went to the zoo because the
Warehouse sponsored us to go and Ritchies buses

gave us the ride for free.

First at the zoo we saw the red pandas.
There were two of them in the trees sleeping.
Next we saw the otter, it was in it’s nest.
It was poking out it’s head to see if we were
leaving or not but it was really funny.
Then we went to the
Tiger but it was taken
to the doctor for a check up
so we went and saw the Tasmanian devils.
Although, it was hiding away from us because
it did not want us to see them.
After that some of the groups went
to other countries to see more animals.
The first thing we
saw in South America was the spider monkeys.
One was on a wooden brunch and the other
one was up in the tree. 

Then we went to the baboons with Hohepa
and they have a pink bottom but it is hard and
we were laughing at it. Then we went to the
Cheetah there was only two of them, but they were brothers.
Then we went to see the elephants, their names are
Burma and Anjalie. Burma is 36 years old, but
Anjalie is only 12 years old. Hohepa
told us about the bark that they put on their
backs so that it can protect them from the sun,
so they don’t get sunburnt.

Finally we went to see the lions, zebras, giraffes.
Then we all meetup at the
playground then my group went to the
kids zone and made a cave.

Even thought we were learning about space the
Warehouse sponsored us and I learnt a lot of stuff
about cheetahs, elephants and baboons.
I want to go to the zoo again some time.
I was very tired when we were walking a lot
of times but it was fun looking at lots of animals.

Read Theory - July

At the start of the year I was grade 1. Last mouth I was grade 4. My best new result was grade 5. 

Matariki

For Matariki we had the senior kapa haka doing the haka for us and the ukelele group played songs for us and the junior kapa haka danced for us. Then we watched a video about Mataiki. Then at lunch Whaea Odie bought us sausages for a sausage sizzle and it was yummy. That was the best Matariki celebration is the best.

Trial and Error

Today we did a maths problem. We had to triple the number. We used our three tables to triple the number.

The first number we used was nine and we got twenty seven and for the addition 

we got seventeen and we were ten away. Then we used seven and we got twenty, and for addition was fifteen

and we had to go lower. The other number we used was five and we got fifteen for the three times table and 

thirteen for addition. 

The last number we used is four and we got twelve for three times table and twelve for addition and that was 

the answer for the problem. The problem was called trial and error because you try a maths  

problem and if you get it wrong you can try again.
